Idealware Technology Training, June 5

Idealware is hosting online seminars about nonprofit software choices coming up in May and the beginning of June. Each of these online seminars is $40 per participant, and all you need is an internet connection and a phone line to participate.

Introduction to Website Analytics
Thursday, June 5th, 1:00 - 2:30 EST
How many people visit your Web site every day? What are visitors doing when they get there? Which features are most popular? We'll talk through the tools and strategies you can use to get the answers to these questions. Through demos of free tools such as AWStats and Google Analytics, we'll look at what these tools can tell you about your site, and what the statistics mean. We'll close with a discussion of when more advanced statistics packages - such as ClickTracks or WebTrends- might be useful.

Check out www.idealware.org/online_seminars for our whole schedule of webinars through June, or to purchase recordings of any of our past seminars for only $20 each.

Xemuba Event and Fundraising Opportunity

xemumba \SHE-moom-ba\, noun: Your next good move.

xemumba: a Latin and South American music festival, was born last year when its founder, Brandon Badillo, wanted to help raise money to pay for his grandfather's medical bills. After the overwhelming success of 2007, we are anxious to present an even better 2008 event, with over fifteen performances ranging from traditional to modern Latin music, spanning two nights! Xemumba will be hosted at Mohawk, located at 912 Red River St, on the 12th & 13th of September, 2008.

And best yet, this year we are offering five different organizations 5% of the proceeds collected from the door. We are inviting you to become a part of the excitement and offer you the opportunity to be included in our non-profit drawing. We ask for nothing in return, but perhaps a good word to your friends, employees, and members of your mailing list, in hope to increase our non-profit contributions. At the conclusion of the event, we will randomly draw five different non-profit organizations and disperse the funds accordingly.

I hope you take the opportunity to get involved in this great movement to help give back to our unique city through an equally unique event, xemumba. If you are interested, please respond to xemumba@gmail.com with your: contact name, email, and phone number. This information will only be used in the event that your organization is chosen to receive a donation.

Heart House Event: Charity Fashion Show, August 23, 2008

Come to the 2nd Annual Heart House Charity Fashion Show: Angels on the Runway. It is the premier fashion show of the season, including an entertaining evening and a sensational silent auction. The event will showcase four designers, including two established menswear and women’s wear designers and two emerging designers selected in our “Project Runway”-type competition. With a New York fashion director at the helm, we expect the show and VIP Afterparty to be one of the best events of the year!

As a new event in 2007 which drew over 500 people, the Heart House Charity Fashion Show was a tremendous success and named one of the Top Ten Fashion Events of 2007. Now in its second year and with larger goals in mind, Heart House will reach a larger audience of 700 attendees, in addition to tremendous media sponsorship engagement with Austin Monthly Magazine and local television and radio media sponsors.

The goal is to raise $80,000 to be used to support the expansion of Heart House afterschool centers, where children receive a free, safe and academically-focused afterschool program while their parents are at work.

Heart House’s innovative afterschool program is the only daily program for school-age children in neighborhoods known for their high crime, high unemployment, and lack of affordable, quality care for children. Since the first center opened, Heart House has been able to track its children, with parents, teachers and schools reporting that our children have shown improved academic performance, fewer behavior problems, and better rates of homework completion.

When: Saturday, August 23, 2008, 6 pm – 11 pm
Where: The Austin Music Hall, 208 Nueces St. Austin, TX 78701
Tickets: www.hearthouse.org/angels
