EXTERNAL COMMITTEES

Book Club Committee

The Denver YNPN Book Club meets every other month to discuss nonprofit issues as related to specific books. Meetings are generally held at a nonprofit. This nonprofit provides a speaker/facilitator for the meeting and recommends a book that focuses on that organization’s expertise. The YNPN Book Club Committee is comprised of a Chair, a YNPN Board Liaison, and 1-3 additional members. The Committee meets monthly to plan and follow-up on Book Club meetings.  The Book Club Committee reports to the Denver YNPN Board of Directors through the committee Chair.

Fundraising/Development Committee

The YNPN Development Committee is responsible for implementing the Denver YNPN Development Plan, which includes planning fundraising events, cultivating donors, writing grants on behalf of YNPN, and initiating other fundraising mechanisms. We are currently looking for members who have fundraising experience or who are interested in helping and learning more.   This committee meets monthly.

Happy Hour Committee

The Happy Hour committee provides quality social, professional networking and professional development opportunities for YNPN members.  These events are enjoyable, encourage solidarity and information sharing among peers, and affirm the valuable work of non-profit professionals.  This committee meets monthly.

Learning Circles Committee

The YNPN Learning Circles committee provides facilitated discussions, peer coaching, mentoring, support, resources, and relationship building for young non-profit professionals in the metro area.  This program will give non-profit leaders the extra support they need to address the challenging issues they face on a regualr basis.  Learning Circles are composed of seven to ten non-profit leaders committed to supporting one another.  They are organized according to specific fields within the non-profit sector.  This committee meets monthly.

Member Relations Committee

The Member Relations Committee is responsible for member communications, marketing, public/external relations, and technology for the DYNPN chapter. Our goal is to provide excellent member services. Member communications includes a continuum of member services including welcoming new members, responding to inquiries, reconnecting and retaining members, conducting polls and surveys, and recruitment and management of volunteers.  Marketing consists of evaluating DYNPN branding, designing and evaluating DYNPN collateral, and working with the member communication group to develop content for the website, newsletter, and DYNPN collateral. Public/external relations also falls under the responsibility of the Member Relations Committee and works closely with the Development and Partnerships committee to engage the media, sponsors, and friends of DYNPN through press releases, articles, and letters to the editor. The technology component of DYNPN comprises management and maintenance of the website, list-serv, member database, event management and e-mail systems. The special events group is charged with planning the annual member event that celebrates, acknowledges, and appreciates DYNPN members as well as managing other events that occur throughout the year.  This committee meets monthly.

Board Development Committee

The Board Development Committee is responsible for the following activities:

  • Analyzing the composition of the Board (for example, identifying skill set gaps among the Board's current membership)
  • Recruiting, nominating, and orienting new board members
  • Maintaining the YNPN Board Manual
  • Overseeing the process of nominating and electing members to the Denver YNPN Executive Committee. 

This year, the Board Development Committee also plans to implement quarterly activities focused on leadership development and board governance.

Partnership Committee

The Partnership Committee promotes and develops collaborations between YNPN and the community, including relationships with other member organizations, service and training providers, and leaders in the nonprofit sector. The committee serves as the contact for all potential partnerships, and works with other committees to build and strengthen relationships that benefit our members.
