Email volunteer at ynpn.orgTake a leadership role in YNPN - apply to join the Advisory Board The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) advisory board in the Bay Area is looking for new members. We're a dynamic, multi-faceted group of 12 looking for 5 people who are committed to supporting nonprofit professionals on their career paths. We are a working board, helping to steer the course of YNPN Bay Area's committees, programs and activities. The average age of our Advisory Board members is around the late 20s to early 30s, with an average of 6+ years of experience in the sector. YNPN is a volunteer-run organization. We are seeking energetic, emerging leaders for a two-year board service starting in June 2008. The most successful AB members are willing and able to commit a significant amount of time to attend monthly board meetings, manage committees of volunteers and attend YNPN events. We are seeking Advisory Board candidates who have interests and/or abilities in serving in the following Advisory Board positions (full descriptions below):

Please note that due to the high volume of replies, we may not respond to every inquiry. Final decisions will be made on June 9th at the Advisory Board meeting. Position Descriptions: Development and Partnerships Chair: The Development Committee fundraises to support the operational budget of YNPN through targeted donor campaigns, sponsorships, and outreach to potential community partners. Community Chair: The Community Committee focuses on increasing the connectedness and involvement of the YNPN community, which includes the listserv, jobslist, and the SFBA nonprofit community. Additionally, the Community Chair is the listserv moderator and is responsible for soliciting feedback from our constituents through an annual survey and townhall-style meetings. Book Club Chair: The YNPN Book Club is an active group of young Bay Area professionals that meet bimonthly to discuss books. Recent reads include Stick Your Neck Out by John Graham; Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins; and Loyal to the Sky by Marisa Handler. The Book Club Chair also coordinates literary events for participants to share ideas and questions related to nonprofit management, social change, or related topics. Communications Chair: The Communications Chair is an Executive Committee position and is responsible for providing cohesive and consistent branding and messaging for YNPN San Francisco Bay Area chapter. The Communications Chair works with each individual committee to ensure coordinated communications efforts and also oversees the production of the quarterly e-newsletter. Socials Chair: The Socials Committee brings together the Young Nonprofit Professional community and create opportunities to make connections, meet new people, and overall, have a good time. Socials are generally held every other month and range from happy hour gatherings to trivia nights to co-sponsored events with other Bay Area professional associations and networks. YNPN's signature social event is an Anniversary Party held each fall. YNPN is a volunteer-run organization. We are quickly growing and need your expertise and commitment to help us through our first year of our strategic plan. We depend on the resources of our members to help shape the organization.
