"From Diversity to Equity"
Kimberly Peeler-Allen, Co-Founder, Higher Heights
It took a long time to build up the systems of inequality we have inherited and change won’t happen overnight. We didn’t all start from the same place and because of that, we don’t all get the same opportunities. We know that diversity is not enough to achieve more equitable outcomes for our communities. What can we do to recognize our advantages and dismantle barriers to success for all?
Kimberly Peeler-Allen has been working at the intersection of race, gender and politics for almost 20 years and knows this battle well. As the co-founder of Higher Heights, a political organization dedicated to electing Black women, Peeler-Allen has spent her career building movements like #BlackWomenLead and #BlackWomenVote. Learn about how she has advocated and built political power for black women as a true “Change in Action” activist and changemaker.
Kimberly’s work has been recognized nationwide through her selection as one of Roddenberry Fellowship’s 20 incredible established and emerging activists, as Crain’s New York Business 40 Under 40 list, as well as one of The Feminist Press’ 40 Under 40: The Future of Feminism for her writing in the Huffington Post, which has also been featured in Essence.
Join Kimberly this summer in Indianapolis at the 2018 YNPN National Conference and Leaders Institute from July 27-30, 2018.
